WHAT WE BELIEVE
Begin here! We won’t bamboozle you with complicated theological language, but it would be good to give you a thumbnail sketch of what we believe. So here goes ….

God: is our Heavenly Father. He loves us more than we can ever imagine. God is also the creator of the Universe and we believe that he has created men and women in his own image. That gives us great dignity.
We believe that we have all have turned away from God and have gone our own way. God did not wash His hands of us, but he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for us, to pay the penalty for our sins. Death was not the end because Jesus rose again from the dead and he is alive forever. This all happened 2000 years ago. Becoming a Christian simply means opening our lives to God, trusting His forgiveness, and starting to follow Him.
We believe Jesus is coming back again. We believe that as we trust in Him He gives us the power to live a life that follows his teachings and his example. Obviously we get it wrong from time to time but he is a forgiving loving merciful God and he never lets us go.

He’s promised that those who trust in him will live forever in a new kingdom called Heaven. You will have seen the church is called a Baptist Church. One of the reasons it’s called a Baptist church is because we believe in baptizing people who have come to faith in Jesus. This means that we do not baptize babies, but we dedicate them and pray for them and bless them. But when someone comes to personal faith in Jesus we will baptize them. Baptism is a symbol of burial and being raised to new life in Christ. We baptize people by full immersion.
We also believe in congregational government which means the each member has a say in how the churches run full stop. So that’s it in a nutshell! You can spend the rest of your life exploring those last few paragraphs. We’ll help you do it!
